ASAT (GOT) FS is a photometric test to determine plasma aspartate aminotransferase in human serum and heparin plasma. Increased ASAT levels may occur in connection with damages of heart or skeletal muscle as well as of liver parenchyma. The ASAT/ALAT ratio is crucial for differential diagnosis in liver diseases and is calculated to distinguish between liver, heart or skeletal muscle damages.
