Lp-PLA2 FS is a colorimetric test to determine lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 in serum and plasma. Lp-PLA2 is released by inflammatory cells in atherosclerotic plaques where the enzyme hydrolyzes oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) into atherogenic compounds. Thus, Lp-PLA2 is a beneficial indicator for cardiovascular disease (CVD) risks.
